One More Dayap Chiffon Cake Please!

February 19, 2014 by Tita Foodie Leave a Comment

There are plenty of new cake shops around for foodies to explore and talk about but sometimes it is the classic favorites that wins over our cravings. For a couple of years now, the Dayap Chiffon Cake from the Chocolate Kiss Café  has been sweetening up our snack time on special days.

Dayap Chiffon Cake Chocolate Kiss

The cake is made with layers of moist chiffon cake, dayap caramel filling, with marshmallow icing for frosting and candied dayap rind at the top. I like everything about the cake and even enjoy each component on its own. The chiffon cake is moist but not too dense, the dayap caramel filling has a sweet custard-like flavor with the right hint of zest, and the marshmallow icing is not too sweet. The candied dayap rind on top also adds a welcome flavor to the whole cake. If it was possible, I would have requested for additional dayap rinds on top, pretty much like I would order extra toppings on my pizza. But since that is not the case, I would just save the dayap rind for last. My niece is also a fan of the cake and would treat herself to a 4-inch cake whenever she gets a chance to visit the Chocolate Kiss Cafe. This afternoon had to leave and take care of some errands after finishing a slice, but not without a request that we save her another slice for later.

The Dayap Chiffon Cake is available in 4-inch round cake for only Php140.00, 6-inch round cake for Php480.00, and 9-inch round for Php1,100 at their Bahay ng Alumni and Roces brances.
