It has been a year since my last visit to Resorts World Manila. The last time I went there, I saw a movie and ate at one of the dining establishments on the fourth level. This time, we had a family lunch at Mr Kurosawa Restaurant before exploring the rest of Newport City Mall and Casino.
We got there at around 1:00 pm and I was glad we were seated immediately. Our party of six were assigned to a booth that can comfortably fit four people and given one extra chair on the side. We decided against the chair and squeezed ourselves in the booth instead. There was enough elbow room to eat our meals properly so we did just fine. We ordered the usual fare of Chicken Teriyaki, California Roll, Salmon Sashimi, and Ebi Tempura. These are standard orders whenever we eat at Japanese Restaurants. Some of the dishes that we wanted to try were not available but our attendant was quick to suggest alternatives. The suggested alternative for the Four Cheese Yamamoto Pizza was Iwo Jima Pizza. And the Crunchy Kani Roll took the place of Monte Carlo Roll due to unavailability of scallops.
The California Roll came with some shredded crabsticks and mayo on top and lettuce leaves with Asian dressing on the side. I liked the roll and the generous amount of crabstick topping. The Chicken Teriyaki, Ebi Tempura, and Salmon Sashimi also tasted good. We actually wiped our plates clean after our meal. I also liked the Crunchy Kani Roll that our attendant recommended. However, the kani topping lost its crunch towards the end of our meal. I suggest you consume this first if you plan to order it with other fares.
The best dish in our family lunch at Mr Kurosawa is the Iwo Jima Pizza. Boy, was I glad that the Yamamoto Pizza wasn’t available at that time. We all enjoyed the thin and crunchy crust, topped with chicken teriyaki squares, ripe mango, and lots of cheese. From the looks of it, we will be craving for this pizza in the following weeks. There was no contest among us, the Iwo Jima Pizza is a winner!
Another interesting fare in their menu is the bottomless red, green, or blue iced tea. I was amused when my refill for blue iced tea came back green, and then red on my third refill. Kids may also find it fun to switch iced tea colours for every refill.
The dishes were good and nice to look at. I took some pictures with my phone but they were not really good. I requested for available photos that I can use. Their manager, Mr. Rommel, was kind enough to send some good photos that I can share in this post.
We all had a pleasant family lunch at Mr Kurosawa, and we plan to come back for more. The staff was friendly and they made an effort to check on us even after our orders have been served already. There are some dishes in their menu that we still like to try. Some top of mind dishes are the Monte Carlo Roll, Ebi Shitake Pesto, and Salmon Wasabi. We really left with our plates wiped clean which is a good indication of a repeat visit. I was also glad to know that they have a branch at Eastwood Mall. This means we don’t have to go far to enjoy their meals.
