Ways to Get Your Child to Eat Healthier

April 13, 2019 by Mama Foodie Leave a Comment

Parents struggle every day with making sure their children get the proper nutrition that they need. If you have a picky eater, you may feel like you’ve tried all of the tricks, yet nothing seems to work. Here are a few ideas to help.

Set a Good Example

While do as I say not as I do sounds great, it’s not always the best policy when it comes to your children. Setting a good example for your child is important. If you’re constantly indulging in sweets, they will want to do the same. Consciously making healthier choices can benefit your child in the long run, especially if they are at risk of inheriting genetic diseases. Even though there is research being done with an array scanner, leading a healthy lifestyle can make a big difference.

Substitute Healthier Choices

You’ve probably heard of hiding vegetables in your child’s food. This is good option, but there are other things you can do as well to keep your kid healthy. Instead of serving regular pasta, try using lentil or black bean pasta. A lot of times your kid won’t even know the difference. If your child has a sweet tooth, give them yogurt for dessert. There are so many options now, and many of them actually come in dessert flavors.

Cook With Them

Educating your kids on what is going in their food is important. If you cook with your child, you can talk to them about what to look for on labels. Show them how cooking with fresh ingredients can be fun. As an added bonus, your kid is probably more likely to want to try something he or she helped make.

With childhood obesity on the rise, it is more important than ever to make sure your child makes healthy choices. Keep the lines of communication open, and explain to your kids why getting the proper nutrition is so necessary.
