Creamy and Filling Ginataang Liswik

The Bicol Region Cuisine is known for its spicy flavors and the use of the coconut oil in cooking. Bicol express and Laing are two of the most popular dishes that come to mind when we talk of the Bicolandia. But there are also other recipes that will let you enjoy the flavors of Bicol without burning your tongue. One such dish is the Ginataang Liswik.   This dish is pretty much like the Guinataang Kuhol of the Tagalog Region. The Liswik or conch is a sea snail that locals or seaside … [read more]

Aloha! Binagoongang Baboy

Watching cooking shows like Top Chef, Iron Chef, and Master Chef can teach you that anything is possible in the kitchen. Weird ingredients or unlikely combination of flavors can sometimes turn into a delectable dish. Sometimes, even a kitchen boo boo can result to a new and improved version of an old recipe. Unlike seasoned cooks or chef, I am not brave enough to put my own twist in any tried and tested recipe. At least not until I tried cooking Binagoongang Baboy from scratch and double dosed … [read more]

Loading Up on Burgers and Burrito at Army Navy

A trip to the mall with my musically inclined niece is always fun and interesting. Aside from her engaging company I also get to have some lessons about musical instruments and music trends. I am used to her animated commentary on Epiphone and other guitars but this afternoon she shared her thoughts on the skb drums & percussion that her band mate wanted to get. While my niece filled me with musical tidbits, I was navigating our way to Army Navy so we can also get some tummy … [read more]

Beary Hoppy Bento Lunch

July 12, 2013 by Tita Foodie Leave a Comment

Inspired by her Hot-Octo-Dog and 4th of July creations, Momster hashed another Bento lunch idea for the kids. A Beary Hoppy Bento Lunch with a bear and a bunny corned beef as the center piece.   She simply placed the cookie cutter at the center of the lunch box and filled the surrounding areas with rice to serve as the backdrop. The center of the cookie cutter is then filled with corned beef which was sautéed in garlic and onion. It has to be packed a bit tightly for the design to … [read more]

Jade and Jakei’s Fourth of July Baon

July 4, 2013 by Tita Foodie Leave a Comment

The fourth of July marks the declaration of US independence from British rule in 1776. Fireworks, parade, picnics and other festivities are done all across the US every year to celebrate their independence day. We may not have anything to do with this celebration, but it served as momster’s inspiration for the kids’ Bento Box today. Regular pantry stocks such as pancake, cereals and strawberry jam were all it took to create a snack that resembles the stars and stripes of the American … [read more]
